^& Hoover WindTunnel Canister Vacuum Bagless S3755

This is my first canister. After 15 yrs I've decided uprights are the spawn of the devil - they are getting heavier and bulkier and messier. Here were my biggest complaints of my last bagless uprights (Bissells and Eurekas) that I hoped to improve with the Hoover. 1) HEAVY, it's like maneuvering a small army tank around 2) CLOGGING - my last 5 bagless uprights all clogged with each use, either in the filter container or in the hose assembly. 3) MESSY - all my bagless vacuums left a huge dusty smelly mess on the floor when I try to remove the container, no matter how careful I was. Dust EVERYWHERE. YUK! The only redeeming quality of the Pet Eraser (my last upright that lasted 12 mos) is that it was the most powerful unit - VERY powerful suction. It also had the shortest lifespan of all my units and cost the most. So I forked up for the Hoover after reading comments here. Oddly, as I was reading a lot of comments I realized they were posting for the wrong model, I think they just saw a matching picture and posted there. According to Hoover's website comparison tool, the only real difference between this model and the Electronic model is the addition of two more tools (all the other checkboxes are identical). Considering I have 3 defunct Turbo Tools from various defunct models, I don't put much value on them. Most quit working after only a few uses, so I'm glad I didn't spend the extra money.

Here's the heavy on the Windtunnel Canister.... 1) it's NOT heavy, I can easily pick it up by the handle and carry it anywhere or even hold it as I vacuum. 2) it's the CLEANEST bagless vacuum I've had so far. It's not as clean as a bagged vacuum, but it's pretty close. ALL my bagless vacuums require the container to be dumped after each avg-sized room, and this one is no different so I don't consider it a CON - I consider it a flaw common to all bagless vaccums. 3) NEVER CLOGS - not once. It has less suction than the Pet Eraser, but it's still quite powerful enough for my combination of low pile carpets and hardwood floors that get covered with fur and tracked-in grass. One reader posted that it did not pick up on hardwood floors and I couldn't disagree more - it's great for hardwood and doesn't scratch like my upright. Here are the unexpected perks: 3 most common cleaning attachments included and stowed in a compartment. It's TALL and LOW - big bonus. The sturdy wand adjusts to a very nice length accommodating my tall frame - no more backaches from leaning over. It's LOW. I love the low profile base which is only a couple of inches off the floor - I didn't notice the benefit until after I started going under sofas, chairs with low rungs, night stands, beds - all the way to the back of the walls. I can lay the wand close to the floor and vacuum under furniture to the wall and get all those dustballs I normally miss. And as many other readers pointed out - retractable cord.. HAND-DEE!!! No more tripping myself as I move the vacuum from room to room. I also really like using the upholstery tool instead of the normal floor attachment to do all the baseboards and g tighter areas like behind toilets. I did not originally see any benefit from an adjustable suction setting. Who would want anything other than MAX??? But then I realized it's great for doing area rugs, and bathroom mats - no more sucking the mats up into the vaccum. Never thought of that before -because I never had a vacuum with that option. Several readers point out that the filter needs frequent cleaning. I tap mine off after each use and find that it cleans relatively easily. CONS - not quite as much suction using the floor attachment as the Pet Hair Eraser - however, the hose itself and the attachments have powerful suction. When in the upright position unattended, the wand can easily tip over if not balanced properly. I have read several readers claim that after 3-5 yrs, the electrical yoke assembly shorts out. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Since I've never had a vacuum last 3 yrs, I'll consider myself lucky if I can test that claim out. Also - I am careful never to drag the vacuum around by the hose - that likely promotes splitting in the plastic assembly - I use the handle to move the base. Overall - a unit that matches my expectations based on purchase price. Lightweight, compact, but powerful enough to get the job done.
