I received my new Miele Callisto today. I must say it works better than any vaccuum I have ever had. My only problem is that after spending $900 on a vaccuum, I would think I could get a operating instruction booklet specific to my vaccuum. Not true. I was sent a generic booklet for the 5000 series. Most of the pictures and instructions do not match. In fact, if I had not already had a canister vaccuum of a different brand, I would not be able to figure out how to put this vaccuum together or use it. But, I gave it 5 stars because it's a really great vaccuum.

I had the top-of-the-line Cuisinart for several years until the motor shot craps recently. As I make breakfast shakes every morning, lack of a blender was not an option. I bought the Waring based primarily on the Amazon reviews and have been very satisfied with it. It's not fancy, just a low and fast speed (like my Cuisinart), but works well and gives one the feel that it is built to last. Not real excited by the plastic mix container, since you have to hold it down to keep it from vibrating. I preferred the lock-down, glass mix container of the Cuisinart; but will trade longevity for a slight convenience disadvantage. Overall very satisfed with the purchase and recommend consideration of this blender if you are looking for solid "bang for the buck".

I bought this microwave about a year and a half ago. Mostly, we've been satisfied with its performance (though it's not very good with defrosting). Recently however, the spring-loaded latch that keeps the door closed simply stopped working. This means the door can't close properly, and (hence) it means the microwave is not useable. (We don't slam the door or anything like that. We don't even use the microwave often. This was the result of normal use.)

I've disassembled the door to understand what broke, and it is really astonishing how cheap the internal plastic parts are. I'm frankly amazed the door didn't break sooner. If I was more cynical I'd suspect that this was designed to break after a year or two. (Basically the spring that pulls the latch down when you close the door is affixed to a thin, isolated shard of plastic that has almost no support, can snap like a twig, and is under significant pressure from the spring at all times. Unsurprisingly, this piece of plastic just broke off of my microwave.) I'm hoping right now that I can fix the problem with some microwave-safe glue, but it's been a huge inconvenience.

The reviews you read here are probably indicative of your *first year* of use with this microwave. But if you hope for your appliances to last more than a year or two (!), I would definitely avoid this microwave. There's simply no way the door can be expected to survive use over several years.

This was our first bagless vacuum after 7 years with a Panasonic and needless to say I didn't want to spend $500. Tested it out at Lowe's and purchased a couple days later after trying a Dyson. Yeah, it's a little heavy but it makes up for it with great suction, easy empty cannister and a long cord. The detachable brush is great for getting the stairs (I have half flights and this hose stretches all the way). The power brush and lights are great and after months of use, not one problem. (I have been wanted to write this for a while but wanted to make sure I had no issues). It's pretty dang versatile and would recommend to anyone trying to save a little over the Dyson or comparable vaccuums. The only person I wouldn't recommend this to may been anyone over 55 living by themselves in a 2 or more story house. Any guy on here saying is TOO heavy needs a girlfriend and a hobby.

I've had many carpet shampooers, including Bissel and Hoover, ranging in price between $200 and $400. The F8100900 is at least twice as good as any I've had in the past. The seperate fresh water and waste water tanks are preferable to the combined tank/bladder system. Much easier to empty and clean.

Following the manuals cleaning instructions exactly, I was really amazed at how clean and "dry" the carpet turned out! I beleive the primary reasons for the better cleaning job is the onboard water heater, but also the lesser mentioned bi-directional scrubing action of the brushes.

You get what you pay for. The sticker shock for this machine is soothed by the improved cleaning job. Very impressive.

I'm not a fussy housekeeper, but I have a cat with soft short hair that merges with the fibers of our oriental carpets, and her fur fuses with dust balls becoming a weighty floor cover on it's own... And I had been using a Hoover vacuum upright, using the crevice tool and going over the carpets in small areas (taking about 2 hours to vacuum).

With the Miele Bolero Upright there is enough suction that I do the carpets in 10 minutes and the floors in about 40 min (whole house). It's easy to shift from the upright to the hose and tools. My husband says it has headlights! I m totally happy with the vacuum; it's worth the cost! Only concern for some might be that it has too much suction so that small bits (screws, rubber bands, etc) get sucked up before you can bend down to pick them up!

I've had this vacuum for a couple of months now and I'm in love. Everyone I know tried to steer me to a Dyson and I'm so glad I didn't listen.

With the press of a button I can adjust the suction and go from area rugs to throw rugs to my drapes. It tackles my Weimaraner's short hairs imbedded in the fabric of the couch and rugs with ease. But I can also vacuum my plant leaves without shredding them. As a previous upright owner, the canister took a little getting used to but it's 3 swivel wheels spin 360 degrees making it very manueverable. It's surrounded by a rubber bumper that protects my walls and furniture. I can clean under my sofa and loveseat which was impossible to do with my previous uprights. It's also very light and portable which makes cleaning my stairs so easy that I actually clean them weekly. All parts of the hose attachment are easily detachable making it a breeze to change from the power head to the floor attachment or suck up the cobwebs in the corners. The onboard attachments are easy to access and fit nicely on the suction handle for tabletops and lampshades. Changing the bag is a cinch and all the dirt is kept in it's little bag with a seal. A must for allergy sufferers. I've also noticed a dramatic decrease in dust collecting on my table surfaces since the wool/silk area rug is the cleanest it's been in years.

I was very hesitant to pay that much and I'm even a little embarassed when people ask me how much I spent on a vacuum, but they just don't make machines that last more than 3 years any more. I'm hoping I save in the long run if this lasts me at least 10 years.

I have owned a Hoover Ultra for about 6 years now. True, I live in a ranch style home with no stairs and a ton of white carpeting. I would not buy an upright if I had to deal with stairs. I perform a bi-annual tune up on the drive belts and HEPA filter. This is a fairly simple procedure. The only problem I have had with the drive belt is when trying to operate the vacuum on a rug that was very thick, I scorched the drive belt. I have not experienced any suction problems, and although I'm sure it does not perform as well as it did new, it still is a good vacuum. My only real complaints are:

* The edge brushes. Originally they were red and now I have red scuffs all over the baseboards. I see the new models sport grey guards. They would be simple to replace, but I never changed them.

* I have some linoleum floors in the laundry area. You need to turn off the self-propelled drive on these, as it will permanently scuff them.

* The self-propelled mechanism did break after about a year, but is was and easy fix at the local non hoover repair shop.

Yes, this was an expensive vacuum. That is relative, because it is no more that the top of the line of any machine you purchase in a store. If you want to see an expensive vacuum, go buy a Kirby!

Yes it is heavy. Yes it can tip over if you stretch the house too far. All that aside, it has been a great vacuum and I still get complements on how white my carpet has remained. I would recommend this product to anyone.

You can read countless reviews about the Dyson vacuum and I would add nothing to it other than this:

If you're looking for an attachment to remove pet hair via the hose, DO NOT buy the Dyson tool (for $50+). It simply doesn't work. BUT....

We have 2 white, long hair pets and emerald green carpet. I finally found a tool that works! The Hoover Windtunnel Turbo Brush (Part # 40200013) fits the nozzle on my Dyson perfectly. That little sucker CRANKS! The brush spins hard even when it's touching the carpet. It's super easy to unclog the long pet hair from the brush. You squeeze two side buttons, it opens to 2 half pieces, you extract the hair that is wrapped around the brush and it starts whirring again. PLUS, I think I paid less than $10 to get it on eBAY.

I have had Bissell cleaners for years and when I read about the Pro Heat2 with an on-board heater I thought that was a great feature...

Well I bought one last October and that very 1st day I got 1/2 of the family room done and it stopped working. I called the store in which I bought it and of course they said I could return it - so I did and just got another one. I have used it approx 4 times over this year and it has stopped completely. If I really think back I think I had issues each time I used it with either how much water was dispensed or how little water it picked back up... When I called Bissell they gave a repair shop to call as it is still under warranty - - the repair shop told me they had 12 sitting in their shop right now for repair - - that was not a good thing to hear.. I have always had a steam cleaner since I have been married and consider it a must have appliance, especially if you have kids and animals...

Save youself alot of head-aches and do not buy this cleaner...

I needed a camera that takes good indoor closeups of small items, and this one takes great shots. I am over 65 and not too great with technical things, but have managed to take some really good pictures. I find it harder to download to my computer folder for editing than the older Kodak cameras. Otherwise, it is just fine, and battery life is really good. An excellent camera for the price.

This cleaner is far superior to any other Hoover or Bissell I have previously owned. We have 10 dogs and it is a struggle to keep all carpeted areas clean and this is doing the trick. However....the front roller bar had stuck and started to burn up necessitating getting a new piece for the machine ALREADY! That is bad enough but my husband had a heck of a time finding a site that sold the parts we need and after all of that, they have managed to lose the order. Egads!! Baring anything else breaking, I am satisfied with the job it has done - heavy duty use to be sure.

I bought this on Amazon from Mr. Vacuum and Ms. Sew to replace my Hoover wind tunnel. I have had two Hoover wind tunnels that have lasted an average of 3-4 years. Before that I had a Eureka vacumn cleaner.

I bought this vacuum based on the review of others and the expected life of this vacuum cleaner. I haven't had much opportunity to use the vacuum so far, but I noticed a big plus is the noise level is much quieter than any of my previous vacuum cleaners. The wand can be adjusted which is a great plus. My husband made the comment that after I am done cleaning the house the air does not smell like dust. I also like the different levels to set the suction power and the retractable cord.

I will update this rating as I use the various features.

SUmmary: An amazing product IF YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.

my husband and i live in an apartment with our two cats.

one of our our cats became seriously ill (diabetes complications) and made various bio-messes ALL OVER our apartment. we were certain we would have to replace our carpet.

We were recommended this product by cat-loving friends of ours, and have been in love with it ever since.

it is VERY easy to use **( AS LONG AS YOU READ THE DIRECTIONS FIRST)** and completely cleaned the messes from our carpet, eliminating the odor and repeat marking issues we were having. the attachments are wonderful for little messes and it the upright cleaner can power through a whole room on one tank of water (depending on the dirtiness of the carpet, of course).

We have since moved to a new apartment and are still using our steamer to keep down on our allergy problems (pet dander, pollen, dust).

We had some trials and tribulations in teh begining, but the online support and the owners manual were instrumental in the use of our product. IT IS NOT LIKE A VACUUM, you cannot just plug it in and go. Take the time to read the instructions, and I believe you will also be pleased.

I use this camera on my job and it takes great photos, and in a variety of lighting/scene situations. It is not, however, the best in low light situations without using the flash.

You can read the manual, but I find the best way to learn to use any camera like this is to play with all the settings.

Are your images grainy? Press the "Menu" button and select "Scene," then image mode, then select a higher quality image mode. I use normal, but you could bump it up to High if you wish. The higher the quality image the larger the photo file size, meaning you'll have less space on the SD card for a lot of photos.

Do you find that the LCD screen is too dark or too bright? You can adjust it. Press Menu again and select the tool that looks like a wrench. You'll find all sorts of controls that you can adjust to your preferences. And of course this is where you'll find the "format" card command... Every time you delete your photos from the camera's memory it's wise to format the card.

Now for the "Scene" command button, which is just to the upper left of the four-way command control. You can leave it on Auto, or... use the four-way command control to select "Scene." Then cycle through the many choices, including portrait, sports (fast action shots) landscape, beach, snow, museum, Subway, Pizza Hut, etc..:)

If you and your subject are standing in the shade, and sunlight is behind your subject, you may want to experiment with "Forced Flash" mode. This will cause the camera flash to turn on no matter what and will properly illuminate your subject's face so it doesn't end up looking dark with a bright background. Press the four-way command button, the up button with the image of a lighting bolt. Cycle down to the lighting bolt and you'll be in forced flash mode. Check out the other flash modes while your there.

Wanna make a video? the "Scene" button and cycle down to "Movie" and your camera becomes a video camera... (You can also use the camera as a voice recorder!).

Have you been disappointed about the quality of indoor photos of friends/family etc. because the flash illuminated their faces way way way too much? Here's a photo trick I often use indoors: Step back three or four or five or six feet from where you had planned to take the photo. Then zoom in just to the point where you would have been standing, and then take the photo! You'll get a more evenly balanced facial tone and even capture more of the background that would tend to have be washed out when standing too close to your subjects. (You can also try the "party" mode - using the Scene button to access all of the special selections)

If you'd like to take really really close-up photos, of say Abe Lincoln's face on a penny.. Select "Macro" mode. There are two ways to activate it. One is by pressing the Scene button then cycling down to "scene" then cycle to the right and select the icon of the two tulips...

Or, you can leave the setting on "auto" and using the down command button, which shows the image of those tulips again, press and select "on" for macro close-up mode.

As with all cameras of their ilk, when you don't have a viewfinder to look through on a sunny day, you have to rely on the LCD screen, which can be impossible to see in bright light.

That's about it... other than it uses a special Mini B to USB cable. I got one on Amazon for a couple of bucks.

Pros

* Cleans well

* Extremely quiet and pets tolerate it better than most

*When you turn it on, the motor gradually revs up. Automatic suction also protects the motor from getting burned out if something gets clogged in the nozzel. Great variable height and speed.

Cons,

* Crevice tool is too short (compared to Kenmore or other cheaper models)

* Floor brush, attaches clumsily to the side while not in use

* Top of the canister tends to scratch easily so don't use it in the garage

* Brushes have to be cranked 'just so' to fit into the canister

* After 6mo the 'bag full' indicator always indicates that the bag needs changing. Give me a break!

* Hose does not swivel well

Summary. For $1K, somewhat disappointing. Great motor...but the accessories that are needed to do heavy duty cleaning are sadly lacking.

The company needs to improve on the details. Outdo the competition on the accessories by adding an LED light to the bare floor brush. Accessories should fit easily into the canister. A 2' longer cord would be nice.

I shopped around for my wife on the internet, trying to purchase what I thought was a decent vacuum. We ended up going to Sears and rummaged through their selection for about two hours and settled on this one. We got it home and were more than satisfied with the power and really impressed with the suction of the hose only to be soon dissapointed with the hose pulling out of the end of the connection on the vacuum itself making it impossible to use the hose. I called the service provider only to find out they were about 60 miles away and they were waiting on a new hose for another customer. Forget it! I was so stinking mad as I had spent over 300.00 on this "Beautiful" machine, boy do I feel stupid. Finally glued the hose back together only to have the internal hose plug where I ended up taking the machine apart to unplug it. Here we are 6 months out and the hose suction stopped working and I can't get it to work anymore. I doesn't even clean that good with the regular floor brush as the suction isn't as good as it was when new. Save your money. I HOPE THESE CROOKS THAT MAKE THIS MACHINE ARE SLEEPING GOOD AT NIGHT.

^& Dyson Ball All Floors Upright Vacuum

In November of 2003, I bought a Dyson DC07 Animal vacuum cleaner. I reviewed it in these pages and recommended it wholeheartedly to anyone in the market for a new vacuum cleaner.

I regret to say I cannot do the same for the Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner.

My DC07 Animal lasted for six years and had the daylights beaten out of it in that time. It sucked up everything from wet cat sand to fine sawdust generated by sanding a floor for refinishing. I had to replace the two hoses in the Animal on several occasions because they are made out of cheap plastic and wire and are prone to tearing from repeated flexing. But it was the irredeemable clogging from the sawdust that finally did in my Animal. Naturally I looked to Dyson for its replacement.

My wife was convinced that because we'd eliminated all the wall to wall carpeting from the house, and because we are down to five cats from the eight we had with the Animal, that the Dyson Ball was the best choice for a new vacuum cleaner. So I bought one.

The Ball is what Dyson calls the "new generation" of vacuum cleaners. It is designed with a much smaller beater bar head, to allegedly get under furniture better and generate good suction with the substantially smaller motor contained in the ball. Here are its good and bad points.

The good:

The switch to shut off the beater bar to make the Ball safer on the finish of an uncarpeted floor has been moved up to the power switch, to make it easier to use; and an automatic cut-off and reset switch has been built into the beater bar head to shut down the beater bar in the event of sucking the fringes of a carpet into the beater bar, to prevent damage to the machine.

The operating mechanism to remove the dust canister and allow it to be emptied has been redesigned to allow one switch to do the work of two in the previous generation of Dysons.

On bare floors or on carpets with no nap to them, the Ball lives up to its press releases. It's easy to maneuver, far more so than a vacuum cleaner with fixed wheels and has good suction. On bare floors or on carpet without a nap to it, you can get in much tighter than I could with my old DC07 Animal.

Now, the bad.

Getting the beater bar to run is a nuisance. It works very well once you get it started; but to get it started requires you to press on a purple foot pedal JUST SO while easing down the operating handle or it won't kick on; and you have to restart it every time you bring the operating handle to the upright position. The end users would have been better served if the beater bar ran constantly as the default position unless manually switched off by the operator.

On any kind of carpet with a nap, the Ball is MUCH harder to maneuver than my old DC07 was. MUCH harder. Yes, I could not get as close to furniture with the DC07 as I can with the DC24, but the 07 was much easier to move on the rug than the ball is.

The wand has been redesigned to telescope, apparently in response to customer complaints about the long fixed wand, to allegedly make it easier to use. It isn't. In order to reach over your head or into corners, you have to carry the base unit in one hand while manipulating the wand with the other on the end of a not-long-enough hose that snaps into the end of the wand as it did in earlier models. To be fair, this is not as burdensome as it might be because the base unit is so light.

One of the features I really liked about the DC07 Animal was a hose long enough to let me work freely five or six feet away from the base unit and still reach under couches and into corners above my head. This new arrangement is neither as flexible not as good as the old. Further, the material used in the hose is the same material used on the short hose of the DC07 that connected the power head to the vacuum proper. I had to replace that hose twice on my DC07 Animal in six years; and that little hose didn't get anything like the flexing a hose meant to let you reach into nooks and crannies or vacuum the steps on the stairs gets. Time will tell how well this material will stand up to ordinary wand use.

Instead of issuing a brush tool and a crevice tool to fit on the end of the wand of the Ball, Dysom put the two tools into a bed and encouraged them to breed. The resultant kludge performs neither of the tasks for which the originals were made as well as the purpose-built tools do. Further, the retaining latch on the storage point on the Ball where this tool is supposed to sit in when not in use is difficult to unlatch.

The DC07 had a 10 meter power cord. This meant that you could plug it into one wall plug in a really big room and vacuum the whole thing without having to shift the cord; or that you could plug it into the wall in one small room and do a goodly percentage if not all of an apartment without having to shift the plug. The Ball has a cord about 7 meters long. Losing that three meters guarantees that you will have to shut down and change to another wall socket at least once in any room larger than about 12 feet or so that has furniture in it. This is definitely a change for the worse.

But now we come to the worst part of Dyson's redesign: the dust canister. It is about a quarter the capacity of the canister on the DC07. If you are working on a carpet with a nap to it, it is literally impossible to vacuum a 12 x 18 carpet without having to stop midway through the job to empty the bin. If you are vacuuming a small bedroom, you will have to stop and empty the canister before going on to the next room. I don't know how you clean with a vacuum, but I find having to stop every couple of minutes to empty out the tiny canister of the Dyson Ball so I can continue working to be an intrusion and a bloody nuisance; it interrupts the flow of the work.

Long story short: if you have an apartment with bare floors or industrial type carpet that has a very short nap, and no pets, this is a good vacuum cleaner to consider. However, if you have pets or deep pile carpeting, choose a larger Dyson with a heavier-duty motor and two wheels. Your back will thank you.

However, even that won't buy you a larger dust canister. All of the current generation of Dysons use that same tiny dust canister. To be frank, under those conditions you'd be better off with a refurbished earlier model Dyson with its much larger dust canister than any of the current ones.

The Dyson Ball does perform adequately. But considering I expected the kind of fabulous performance I got from my purple Dyson DC07 Animal, I am disappointed with it.

These real hardwood floors were just installed, craftsman was VERY specific, NO vacuum.

So, the Dyson was out. Broom and dust mop stuff wasn't cutting it with a Golden Retriever.

Found this unit at amazon, read reviews. $289 is a lot of money.

Got it today (9/14/10) a mere two days after ordering, with the standard 3-5 business day.

First thing I checked was the vacuum head. It's a brush leading head, felt trailing. That's the

Hardwood setting, an easy switch changes to rug/metal. I looked carefully at the floor after

first pass, no scratches, I'm sure hardwood will be fine.

Assembly was 30 seconds. Nicely designed, substantial and solid. Long cord which is nice.

It's QUIET. What's really nice is the head swivels to get around furniture.

VERY happy with this purchase.

I've had an electrolux oxygen for almost 2 years. It's a fine vacuum for the most part, in that it cleans floors adequately. However, it is certainly not worth the price in my opinion. It has a major design flaw. The carpet roller picks up hair and it gets wrapped around it, which is understandable. I do have two women in my household with long hair, but that is not abnormal. You would think that this would simply mean that you periodically have to clean the hair off the roll. However, the design makes it possible for the hair to get into the bearings of the roller and the belt that drives it. This means that every few times I use the vacuum I am forced to sit down and take the cleaning head apart, removing the roller, and cleaning the belt and bearings. Having to take it apart roughly once a month seems a little ridiculous to me seeing that it's a vacuum and it's sole purpose is to clean floors. I would expect such an expensive vacuum to be able to handle a little hair, or at least make it possible for me to clean the hair out without taking the whole head apart. Even this inconvenience wasn't too bad, but today I am fed up. I tried to vacuum and it made a loud noise on the carpet setting. when I took it apart one of the bearings for the roller seized from the hair, causing the plastic casing around it to melt. I was annoyed, and called the electrolux customer service line. The customer service person suggested that I clean up the hair before running the vacuum on the floors to avoid the problem in the future. She actually suggested that I clean the floors before I CLEAN THE FLOORS. She then offered to help me order replacement parts (which I have to pay for). You would think that a company that sold me a $400 vacuum could send me an little piece of black plastic and a 25 cent bearing for free. To add to that, their computer system is down and I am now waiting for the person to call me back so that they can take my money so I can fix their defective product. Obviously hair on the roller is inevitable, but why not design it so that hair can't work its way into the bearings and the drive belt?

Overall, between the inferior product and the poor customer service, I will personally never buy anything made by electrolux again, and I encourage you, the reader, to do the same.

If I could go back I would buy a cheap vacuum in place of the electrolux oxygen. They aren't noticably worse at cleaning floors, and the cheap one would probably be broken by now as well, and their customer service is probably equally not helpful, but I could have vacuums for the next decade for the $400 I spent on this useless lump of plastic.

I have had this vacuum five years. The only thing I like about it is that has pretty good suction. I have replaced the hose 2 times (almost $100 a pop) and the wands 2 times. You can only buy the tiny bags at Lowes and they are very expensive. I will not buy again because it is now broken again and I have to buy a new one. What happened to quality??

Just received the twist. It works great. It picks up the debris nicely and it works well as you go from floor to carpet. It's a little heavier than I expected and a little louder because of the powerful motor. I think it's relatively quiet compared to the central vacuum I used in the past as well. I would recommend this vacuum to others. Solid construction, easy to twist and get around all the furniture.

if u want a beautifull vaccum that does the best cleaning job this is the one, take it from amazon its half what is retailed elsewhere and you wont regret it, it is bagless so you will have to put up with emptying it out by hand, however if a capable vaccum like this would have been bagged it would need one bag each time because it removes literaly everthing

I absolutely love this vacuum and it is a massive step up from my previous Bissel one. For starters, I will gladly pay the recurring cost of vacuum bags rather than dumping out a removable canister like the Bissel. It may be good for the wallet but certainly wasn't great for my lungs when the dust went all over the place. With the Miele, I just drop the full bag into the garbage. Second, the vacuum is not noisy at all, you can even have a conversation at a loud talk, something unheard of with my prior vacuum. The Tango seamless moves from carpet to hardwood floor and gets up all the dog hair from our lab/border collie. Additionally, the Tango is quite a nice looking piece of equipment and for a professed gadget freak, I love the electronic controls vs. the manual dials of other products. Sure you can spend a few dollars less, but quality has its price and your overall total cost of ownership with a Miele will undoubtedly be less than other cheaper alternatives.

It is the worst camera I have ever bought. Ever.

Blurry, grainy, wash out flash and horrible software.

BTW, I have had this camera for several months. I made sure I became accustomed to the settings before writing a review.

I would give it away, but that would just be too cruel to the receiver unless they were maybe 5 years old and just would like a toy to play with.

Terrific machine! Used it on some loop and pile carpet and could hardly believe how well it picked up lint, pet hair and everyday crumbs, paper scraps, etc. The extra 'beater" tool that comes with this model (not included on the DC31 [non-animal] handheld model) did an amazing job vacuuming up cat hair that was well embedded into the mock-fur lining of a cat carrier, and was equally impressive removing cat hair from a fabric covered couch. Did it grab every single strand of pet hair? Of course not. Nevertheless, this vacuum is far superior to any of the other heavy-duty "dust-buster" type handhelds I've used. I find it to be as effective as a high-end upright, only a lot less heavy and bulky. Despite the substantial price tag, the strong performance makes it an excellent value.

Unless you need to use it a lot longer than the ten minutes or so you get per charge, I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't be delighted with this handheld. Personally, I got an awful lot of vacuuming done on a single charge, in part because it worked so well I didn't have to go over the same area numerous times.

The only minor item that could be improved is the pictorial instruction sheet; it's not terrible, just not as clear as it could be.

We received the vacuum with just one piece of styrofoam and some broken cardboard to protect it. Inside, we found some dirt in the cylinder and a small plastic piece broken off from something. We could not find where the piece had broken off from. We decided to return the vacuum and get a new one. We quickly received a "new" vacuum (or so we thought). Once we opened the package we saw the same piece of styrofoam and broken cardboard. We also found the same broken plastic piece! They sent us the same vacuum back! Needless to say, we won't be buying a vacuum from Amazon again. I still hope this vacuum is a good one, but I will be looking for it in the stores.

We had the Rainbow for about 10 years. Always worked. I thought the suction was reasonable. However, I hated cleaning the water canister that came with it. We just bought a Kirby eventhough the Rainbow was still going strong. The Kirby pulled so much dirt out of my carpets it was amazing and it comes with this little attachment that goes right up against the wall and cleans the side of the carpet. I don't miss the rainbow at all. The water gets stinky if you don't empty it right away.

I bought this vacuum based on the good reviews I saw. I have 500 square feet of vinyl flooring that I wanted to use this vacuum on because I dislike sweeping.

Pros: I found that the vacuum is powerful and has great manueverability under chairs and around table legs. It also has excellent edge cleaning.

Cons: However, it won't pick up cheerios or anything close to the size of a cheerio. Crumbs get sucked to the vacuum and then bounced off so I have to chase them around to vacuum them up. Another thing that bothers me is that the handle won't angle up very high without lifting the head off the floor--so if you are trying to reach far underneath something or vacuum in close quarters such as a hallway, it doesn't work so well. It seems as if you have to be 6 feet away from what you are vacuuming to maintain the correct handle angle and keep the head on the floor. A minor annoyance is that, just as another reviewer said, the cord clip to snap the plug to the cord after winding it up is too small and will not clip onto the cord. I do not feel that this vacuum was worth the almost $300 I spent and will be returning it.

Displeased with Kodak M 380 10.2 megapixel

I purchased this camera for my mother. I noticed after comparing photos taken with my Canon SD 850 IS that the photos were very grainy. I took several photos of the same subjects in the same light and found that the Canon photos were MUCH better. I called Kodak 800-235-6325 and after repeating everything I said to the technician several times, without him answering any of my questions, as to why the photos were so grainy, I asked to speak with his supervisor. He simply hung up on me.

This was purchased because of the positive reviews & Consumer Report's recommendation.

I was amazed at the performance of this product. I wanted to get a higher priced vac & was glad I did...at first. It sucked up animal hair & stray cat litter with great efficiency on both carpet & wood floors.

It was also the quietest vac I've ever heard...in fact, on the 8th attempt to use it, there was no noise AT ALL!

After vacuuming a 2 bedroom house 7 times, it wouldn't start. The power got to the machine but pushing the start button did nothing.

Since I live in a rural town between 2 major cities to the north & south, I'd have to drive at least 45 miles to get this repaired. So I contacted "Hoover's Exclusive Platinum Collection (TM) Member Services Line" ....impressive,eh?...I hope the folks working there get paid by their title, because all they do (& can do) is punch in your ZIP & tell u the location of the service center.

They told me that the nearest service was 32 miles away in Tehachapi, CA. I replied, "That is almost 100 miles & a 2 hour drive away" Their response? "Well, that's what it says on our computer" So much for "Hoover's Exclusive Platinum Collection (TM) Member Services"... it's just a call-center sweat shop.

There is no repair available in Bakersfield or Santa Clarita. It took a drive of 75 miles & 1hr 45min to Los Angeles to get service.

The repair center told me that Hoover is just a name & no longer a manufacturer. They also stated Hoovers are poorly made. The hose needs replacing on my vac. I asked how a hose can go bad after a couple of hours of use..."Poor quality" was their answer. It takes "weeks" for them to get authorization to do a warranty repair & to get parts.

It is now 18 days after I dropped it off, & the part isn't expected until next week.!!??$?% If anyone is interested, I'll update this review as time goes on....and on....and on.

I would have to say that this is a very heavy vacuum. It does weight about ten to fifteen pounds. "BUT" what this vacuum does, is worth the weight. I have alergies and this is a life saver. I couldn't seem to get rid of dust or pet dander, but when I use this vacuum it takes what was in the air and puts it into water. The suction is amazing. I see things in the water that I didn't even know was there. It really does the work for a DEEP clean. Yes it isn't something you use when you are doing daily cleaning, but when it comes to needing to get things clean this vacuum does the job. The best.

Bough this camera on my beach vacation and all the buttons on the back stopped working the first time it was in the water. I took it back and exchanged it the same day. The first time the SECOND camera was in the water the same thing happened. Got my money back. I am not surprised Amazon no longer sells this, it is truly a hunk of junk. The only reason it got one star is because Amazon does not let you give some thing zero stars.

I have had my vacuum a little over a year. I love lots of things about it, but have had a lot of problems with it. I really researched before having bought this, and thought I was getting a good product, but I was wrong. Within the 1st month, I had an issue with the power cord. It took over a month (and a 1 hour drive to the "authorized repair" shop each way) before it was fixed, and now, little over a year, it is not working AT ALL. Definitely something electronic. I tried contacting customer service with no response. I am extremely unhappy. We spent over $400 on this vacuum and to only have it last 1 year is deplorable. Also, the bags ARE small, they dont hold much, and are expensive to replace. If this were a true quality product with a little more than 1 year warranty and customer service that would back up the product, I would recommend it, but as is, I would not recommend to anyone, unless you are willing to risk several hundred dollars, and then more in repair bills after your 1 year warranty is up.

This camera will easily break. Nikon will not honor their warranty even if it is within their warranty period. Read my experience, and you'll see.

I bought this camera in December 2009... rarely used it, and stored it in a shockproof case. By July 2010 it was broken.

My experience with Nikon's service was worse than the lousy camera. They sent me a photo of the camera to say that I broke it, and that it's not under warranty. All I have asked for was to have my camera fixed... I have asked for service, not an estimate! Also, the estimate was a scam. In the estimate, they asked me to pay more money to repair the camera than what I paid for the camera in the first place! I was already out some cash since I spent money just to send it back safely to them. It was truly pathetic.

I was truly appalled by the response that I've received. I merely wanted my camera fixed - for Nikon to honor its warranty for a broken camera. For a company to stand behind its product. This was NOT what I got.

I have tried to keep an open mind. However, based on Nikon's pathetic response, and the lousy lack-of-service I've experienced, please make no mistake - I highly doubt that I will buy a Nikon camera again. In fact, I plan to go out of my way to share my negative experience to everyone in my influence as I vent my severe discontent at Nikon.

Scammed - that's how I truly feel. They should not sell any more of their lousy products - they really should be on the public's DO NOT BUY list.

I bought this vacuum about ten years ago and have never had a moments problem with it. I change the bags and clean the rotating brush of any string, hair or fuzz regularly. I had a salesman come to my door to show me his expensive $2600 vaccum and he had trouble proving his vaccum over mine. His was also 12 amp and made just as much noise. He had trouble finding any problem with my vacuum. He left without a sale. I feel I made a very good choice with this vacuum. It is a little noisy but for the price, quality and power its not a problem for me. Also, if you don't change the bags and clean off the rotating brush regulary any vacuum will stop working even the most expensive ones.

I purchased my Scooba a few years ago after some success with the Roomba vacuum cleaner. Of course, short term success sometimes isn't the best thing to use as judgment when buying technology as I ran into some quality control issues with my Roomba 560 machine. All has been fixed, some under warranty, others out of pocket expense but I am back to being a happy Irobot customer. I waited quite a while to review Scooba because it is not something I use as often as Roomba. I wanted to make sure I had enough experience with it as well as time so I could see what (if anything) would go wrong with it.

I am happy to report that I have had no major issues with Scooba since buying it. I am not talking about quality of its ability to clean my floors but rather in quality control of its build by Irobot. To date, the only thing I had to replace is the battery (my fault...more on that later). Compared to what I replaced on Roomba, this is a miracle!

Using Scooba is much more involved than running Roomba. Outside of the occasional brush cleaning and emptying of the dirt bin, Roomba can stay out of site out of mind and run when you want it to. Scooba requires the user to do several steps to get it run. I'll quickly walk through them.

1. Add solution and water. This is the easy part. You can either use a solution made specifically for Scooba or use a specific amount of vinegar. You get a measuring cup which will give you the exact amounts for each method. I use vinegar as its cheaper and seems to clean just as well. It might smell for a bit but only lasts for maybe an hour or so.

2. First time use or after prolonged periods of no use you have to prime Scooba. What this means is you have to manually add water to the main line that draws water out of the clean tank. Scooba comes with a suction cup ball thing that you fill with water and then attached to the main line (a little plastic piece) and force water into it. If you don't prime Scooba properly, it will just run around your floor without putting any water down. Sometimes this takes one or two tries to get it to work right. If you use Scooba on a regular basis, there seems to be no need to prime it every time.

3. Clean cycle - once Scooba is filled and primed...it will do its thing. Not much to say here except that Scooba doesn't seem as "smart" as Roomba and I find it has a tendency to go over the same areas more often, although I still usually get close to full coverage.

4. Clean Scooba tank- After Scooba is done, you will want to empty the dirty water chamber. Otherwise, if you leave it.....well....the smell....don't want to go there.

5. Clean other parts of Scooba - I would recommend cleaning all of the brushes and areas underneath as well as make sure all of the suction areas are free of dirt, hair, whatever or you may run into some issues later on. Since Scooba is actually sucking up water it puts down, it picks up other stuff as well if on the floor. Luckily, most of the stuff is blocked out by a filter screen that can easily be removed and cleaned after each use.

So that's it but with this model, you will need to manually return Scooba to a charging cord as it does not have a nice charging dock and auto return like the Roomba I have.

So how does it clean?

I would give it a B+ overall for its cleaning ability. Overall, the dirty water I dump out of it is clearly dirty and my floors are left with a nice shine when I use the vinegar/water combo. I have even used Scooba on my hard wood floors, however I usually follow it up with a cloth to dry the floor off more quickly than it would on its own. As far as getting dirt off the floor, Scooba can usually get most stuff up but it may take one or two passes. Luckily, Scooba seems to pass over the same spots several times so most of the stuff on my floor usually gets picked up. Battery life is very good with Scooba easily able to dispense an entire tank of solution on one charge with power still leftover. My kitchen (where I mostly use it) is 26' X 13" and I add a small bathroom as well so it is a decent size area.

Some of my issues are as follows:

1. Scooba is BIG. It is much higher than Roomba so it cannot get underneath some things that Roomba can get to. Overall, its not a huge deal but I have to remember to manually clean under things like the kitchen cart since Scooba cannot do it.

2. Scooba cannot climb over any minimal size threshold which prevents it from going into any other room. Sometimes this is fine if I just want to clean the kitchen but if I want it to get my hardwood floors, I have to pick it up and move it over the tiny little threshold that separates that rooms.

3. Floor vents tend to get Scooba stuck more often than not. Roomba is very smart and easily backs off of things like metal floor vents but Scooba seems to get confused and will ultimately get stuck 3 out of 5 times or so.

4. Scooba seems to leave behind more water that I would have thought. I still have to wait quite a while for my floors to dry as some areas are pretty wet especially if Scooba has gone over an area a few times. I would say that the dirty water tank is maybe 1/4 full when the clean water is completely drained. It seems like Scooba's vacuum just isn't strong enough to suck up all the water it puts down.

5. Suction - I learned after maybe 20 uses that Scooba can get clogged even if you do regular cleanings. I was noticing that way more water was being left behind and the dirty tank was virtually empty when Scooba was done. I immediately though Scooba's suction pump had gone so started doing some research. I found some very helpful tips to try before I went screaming to Irobot. The first one I tried happened to fix my problem. I filled the dirty water tank with clean water and then shook the living daylights out of it. A ton of gunk came out that must have been clogging the pipe that sucks the water in. I was very happy that this was the problem as it took no longer than 5 minutes to fix...and lots of internet research.

6. Battery issues (my problem but still a nuisance) - my battery would not hold a charge for more than 10 minutes after I inadvertently left it unplugged for several weeks. I tried all the tips and tricks to reset Scooba, do this, do that...but nothing worked. I bought a replacement battery from Amazon (a 3rd part battery) and it is working very well and even lasts longer than the stock one. My issues really comes down to the type of maintenance a person has to do with these types of batteries (NiMh). Caring for a battery should not be like caring for a pet. However, you have to remember to either use Scooba on a regular basis or make sure you follow the storage instructions for your battery or you risk a short lifespan on the battery. I believe I paid around $45 for the replacement so its not bad but its still $45!!

7. Scooba is NOISY!!!! Tough to watch TV in a room that is near the room Scooba is cleaning. Much louder than Roomba!

Overall I am very happy with the build quality of Scooba. Just like Roomba, I have a few small areas that I have to remember to clean on my own (corners and under stuff that it can't get to) but it does what it states it will do...cleans your floors for you. Your involvement is a little more than what you have to deal with Roomba but its still a lot better than getting a bucket, mop, etc.. And doing it all yourself. Just remember to clean it and try some of the troubleshooting tips out on the internet before you throw in the towel!

After owning a "tank" Electrolux for almost 20 years, I chose this vacuum to replace it, after reading reviews. I have a yellow lab who sheds awful and this will do the job. My only complaint is that a couple of weeks ago the piece that "hooks" into the piece for the carpet would not make a connection..it is still in the repair shop. But, the repair person said he "tested" the suction and it was 99% and he had never seen one rate so high!

I use a camera every day, all day, so I've had plenty of experience with the Canon A series cameras. I've been through four of the A series cameras in the past six months. These cameras are way to delicate for use. First of, the lense covers do not function properly after a few uses. If they get a little dust on them, they are ruined. Next, the battery life is horrible although, if you buy the Energizer lithium batteries they do last a little longer. You have to take the batteries out of the camera when stored away because for some reason it will drain the batteries in the off mode. When needing the flash, you have to wait ten to fifteen seconds for it to recharge. Then there's the most aggrivating feature of the camera, the lense retracting mechanism. On every A series camera I've used, this part is pretty much the death of the camera. It's the E18 lens error horror story. I don't know if the gears get off track or they just collect dust and jam up but it won't take and you'll have trouble with it. I've started using my own Kodak Easyshare CX7300 that's about seven years old, and so far no problems. It actually takes better pictures than the Canon A series, you don't have to wait as long on the flash, and it don't have the lens retracting mechanism. My Kodak has been dropped a few times a couple of times, on concrete, and it still works like a charm. Personally, I think the Canon is just to delicate for my taste.

I bought this in November. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because the length of the power cord requires moving the plug for vacuuming a few rooms. The catcher bin is small, but for me that is a positive since my family is more likely to empty it each time.

The suction is great, it runs so quietly that I can even run it during nap time with out waking 2 very easily disturbed toddlers. It goes around very smoothly and transition from vacuum to tools is smooth and easy. We love it and the best part is that it is so light weight that my 8 and 12 year olds can carry it upstairs on their own to vacuum their rooms.

I also like that it is more neutral in color.

I can't believe Hoover, Amazon or any self respecting company still sells this piece of crap. I bought this vacuum probably 2 years ago and there were not a lot of reviews yet. I wish there had been. The HEPA filter clogs up and stops working, emptying it is dusty and messy, and now when I start the machine it sends out a cloud of dust that settles over everything in the room. Oh yeah and the handle end broke off after about a month.

Today I went and bought a Dyson. It was more expensive but had outstanding reviews.

Hoover should be ashamed of this product and should have issued a recall. And Amazon -- why are you selling such a piece of crap on your site?
